World leaders will join UN representatives in London on Thursday at a conference on Somalia to discuss issues related to the country’s security and governance high on the agenda.

Mogadishu, with the help of African Union troops, has managed to retake most territory from the armed group al-Shabab, but it continues to suffer from frequent deadly attacks and is in the grip of its worst drought in decades.

The government has embarked on a plan to boost the number of security forces to subdue the violence.
