It was a carnival-like gathering and a full display of the cultural heritage of Okpanam Kingdom, in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State – South Southern part of Nigeria, as the Honorable Commissioner for Information, Hon. Patrick Ugom Ukah was conferred with the chieftaincy title of Akatakpo Enyi 1 of Okpanam Kingdom.    The title was conferred on him by the traditional ruler, Ugoani of Okpanam, His Royal Majesty, Mbanefo Michael Ogbolu, for his contribution to the growth and development of the Kingdom and commitment to the progress of his people.

The event which held at the Traditional Rulers palace, had in attendance, business, political, diplomatic leaders, as well as, professional colleagues and members of the academia and the media. A partial list of guests at the event includes: His Excellency, Ifeanyi Okowa, Executive Governor, Delta Stat, Nigeria; Secretary to Delta State Government, Ovie Festus Agas; Chairman, Senate Committee on NDDC, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi; Delta State Peoples Democratic Party Chairman, Honorable Kingsley Esiso; Members of the State Executive Council; Members of the State House of Assembly; amongst others.

This prestigious title of “Akatakpo Enyi 1 of Okpanam” which is loosely translated as ” Mighty Elephant of Okpanam Kingdom”  is reserved exclusively for indigenes whose contributions to the Kingdom’s progress remains indelible. Well-wishers at the event also maintained that, Hon. Patrick who is the first politician of Okpanam extraction to be made a commissioner, has remained a worthy ambassador of the Kingdom.

Hon. Patrick, an astute Public Relations Professional, had a starling career, working with some A-List  Advertising agencies and leading brands in the continent. Chief among the many campaigns that he worked on was the Critical Assignment/Michel Power-Guinness Campaign, which was widely accepted across the continent.
